Bolsa Has New Executive Chef in the BagMansion alum Bell has roots in neighborhood

Andrew Bell, who grew up in Winnetka Heights, is returning to his roots. He has accepted the position of executive chef at Bolsa, the acclaimed eatery revealed Wednesday.
"I fell in love with Bolas when I was at Bolsa Mercado," Bell said. "It's a tremendous opportunity and compliment that [owner Chris Zielke] called asking if I wanted the position."
Bell's resume is impressive; he's been employed at iconic Dallas restaurants such as York Street, Nosh European Bistro, Aurora, and, most recently, The Mansion on Turtle Creek.
"We spent a lot of time carefully considering this position and ultimately came to the conclusion that Andrew was the perfect person to take over," Zielke said. "He is at the top of his game in the kitchen, and his commitment to using the best locally sourced products when available is also right in line with Bolsa's values."
Bell doesn't plan on causing a revolution when he takes over next month. He plans to build on the foundation of locally sourced food and the emphasis on community established by Bolsa's previous executive chefs, Graham Dodds and Jeff Harris.
"It's such an exciting opportunity, and I'm looking forward to it," Bell said. "I wish Oak Cliff was recognized more for what it has to offer, but I'm also grateful for any recognition that it gets."
